VM Carpet

Arto and Aila Viita-aho founded a carpet weaving company in 1973 in the village of Karvala on the shores of lake Lappajärvi. Initially, the weaving mill made rag rugs but quickly expanded to include pile and wool carpets, cotton, sisal and linen. Arto and Aila invested in good design right from the very beginning. The weaving mill has been working with Finland's leading designers for 30 years. With the same friendly and honest but innovative attitude, VM Carpet carpets are still made today.

VM Carpet is a true family business. Today, three of the five children in the Viita-aho family are still involved in the business. For founder Arto Viita-aho, the carpet factory was a place where innovation and new ideas were implemented. The basic values of life are firmly intertwined in the way of working and doing. Humanity, ingenuity and an honest and friendly Nordic attitude have been an important part of the weaving business from the very beginning. VM Carpet employees are part of the family, and the oldest employees have been involved for more than 30 years.
