Asemakylän Verstas, alias Mika Kallioinen, makes wonderful wood products in his own workshop in Lempäälä, mainly by turning. Each product is designed for use and is handmade. The products are also individual due to the large amount of handicraft and unique materials.
The story
‘My roots are in Padasjoki on the shores of Päijänne, and as the son of a lumberjack, my interest in wood appeared naturally. Wood and its many forms have always interested me, and each tree's own character, uniqueness and difference is allowed to be visible in the end result. Wood is an interesting and challenging material. Working with wood requires patience and skill to achieve a finished result. I mainly work with wood by turning in my own workshop in Asemakylä, Lempäälä’.
