However, the world is full of products of different sizes, colours and designs, so getting started can be very tricky. Sure, you can buy a bedspread, a blanket and decorative cushions in the same set, but it may not reflect the people in the home and their style as a whole. This way it's easier to move on to materials and colours. The materials of the products create the atmosphere in the room, and the look and feel of the material is worth paying attention to. If you want to create an atmosphere of luxury and softness, you should choose a bedspread that is thick to add softness and plushness. Shiny and velvety surfaces truly exude luxury. When choosing colours, consider the brightness of the room and the mood you want to create and choose the darkness of the colour accordingly. Otherwise, be bold with colours and patterns and choose the one that pleases your own eye.

The easiest way to choose the colours for interior textiles is to choose an object you want to place in a particular space – such as a table, a decorative pillow or a blanket – and start picking out the colours that appear in it. This way you can see in advance that the colours match because they already match in the finished product and create a beautiful whole.

When it comes to decorative pillows and quilts, you can be bold and mix and match colours and prints, as they are easier and cheaper to change if you change your mind. It's also worth combining different materials in your decorative pillows and quilts as each material has its own texture on the surface, which contributes to the atmosphere and softness of the room. Natural materials such as hemp and linen are soft to the touch, but their texture is a little harder and more relaxed when viewed, so it's a good idea to combine them with other materials that look softer. It’s recommended to combine so-called hard surfaces, such as leather and natural materials, with soft surfaces, such as velvet and fur. Tassels and other features that are specific to pillows and quilts can add a playful feel to a space.

When decorating, it's worth thinking about the kind of atmosphere you want to create, as each material and colour brings its own mood and vibe to the space. Natural materials, for example, have a very relaxed feel and make it difficult to create a space that feels very sumptuous and exudes luxury. Velvety, slightly festive materials and surfaces are the opposite of natural materials, and they make it easier to bring luxury to a space, but they do not easily adapt to a relaxed feel. Also note that the light in a space also affects the atmosphere of the room, so it’s not a good idea to add textiles that are too dark to a space that doesn't have much natural light, unless you want the atmosphere to be dark and slightly misty.
