The Aarikka's products are immediately recognizable by the iconic wooden beads, which are the leading role in the formulation of a large number of products. The products combine Scandinavian minimalist design with joy and homely. Aarikka's products have been inspired by nature and the forest, which have always been the starting point of the design. The products are mainly made of wood and other natural materials.
It all started from the button. Yet when Kaija Aarikka studied textile art in the art industry, she did not find the buttons suitable for the dress she had designed. What does a skilled student do at this stage? Do them yourself. From these fun and original buttons, the story quickly went on to include jewelry. And February 24, 1954, went down as the day that Aarikka was born.
From the beginning, the circular shape inspires Kaija Aarika. After the buttons and wooden jewelry, silver jewelry, candlesticks, toys, giftware, and decorative items were born. Originality, courage, and natural nature were the most treasures of the time, and they are now. The circular shape is still our inspiration, and other distinctive elements of our products are colorfulness, coziness, and good mood.
Ecological and sustainability are of paramount importance to the Aarika. Therefore, only the best quality wood is selected as the raw material for the products. Maple and birch are best suited for bright colors because of their light and beautiful surfaces. Pine is suitable for products that want a warm atmosphere and a strong texture.
Aarikka's products are manufactured responsibly and ecologically. A large proportion of jewelry is handmade in Finnish homes, home workers. Home products are assembled in Finnish employment centers. Thus, by purchasing the outcomes of the Aarikka, we support skilled Finnish craftsmen and subsidies for hard-to-employ supportive work centers.
