Unfortunately, very little ceramics and tableware is produced in Finland today. Many domestic brands that are perceived as domestic have long since moved their production abroad, where production is cheaper. Domestic tableware is therefore becoming increasingly rare. Fortunately, however, there are still people in Finland who cherish this traditional craft. One of the few is VAJA Finland, based in Porvoo, whose founders have a background in Arabia brand and elsewhere.
SCANDINAVIAN SHAPES AND DOMESTIC QUALITY
VAJA Finland was founded in 2011 in Porvoo, by Fred Oure and Henna Lamberg, to keep the domestic ceramics and tableware industry alive. Their interest towards the challenges of ceramic materials and appreciation for Finnish craftsmanship were combined in their previous positions at the Arabia factory. This was also the beginning of the VAJA Finland story, even if they had no idea about it at the time. VAJA Finland's high-quality and timeless tableware collections are minimalist and excellent to use. The design of the products follows an elegant and simple line combined with graphic and decorative patterns. The stackable cups and multi-functional tableware made of vitro-porcelain are dishwasher safe as well as suitable for the oven and microwave.
DOMESTIC TABLEWARE
VAJA Finland's domestic tableware is manufactured in the company's own factory in Porvoo with traditional craftsmanship. The product development department at the heart of the factory works in close co-operation with designers and production, ensuring excellent product quality in terms of design, materials and finishing.
