Modern rocking chair

The finishing of the modern Onni chair shows the handiwork of Eimi's woodworkers. They know that wood is a living material that changes with humidity. Therefore, when selecting the wood components, the parts are always sorted according to the grain patterns and colour tones of the wood. The end result is an even surface and colour - as if carved from a single piece of wood. Each part of the rocking chair is finished by hand before packaging. At the packaging stage, the pieces are checked and sorted so that the parts of the same chair are as similar as possible.

The modern Onni rocking chair is surface-treated at least twice. Between coatings, the chair is sanded - again by hand. A high level of craftsmanship in production ensures great quality, as any defects are detected and eliminated at the production stage. Read more about rocking chairs!

The modern Onni rocking chair is made in Padasjoki and always made to order. The Onni rocking chair cushion set includes a seat and a back cushion. The upholstery material is made of high-quality furniture fabric, foam and wadding.

Together we have followed the same educational path through three design schools. Each place has left its mark and given us plenty of inspiration for the future. Genuine and honest materials, timeless and durable design language, and small insights are all things we want to bring out through our own design. In design, it’s important to create simple, good products that everyone can make their own. This is also how our Onni rocking chair is designed.

Modern Onni Rocking Chair

The idea for a modern rocking chair was born during a student exchange in Lund, Sweden, where we lived in an old strawberry farm. The rocking chair was originally designed to seat two and suitable for both public spaces and at home. We wanted to bring the rocking chair into today's world, so that it could find its way into more and more homes.
